As part of the lecture series Practical Examples of Industrial Applications of the Finite Element Method, Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Robert Lang will speak on FEM in hydraulic steelwork using the example of the pressure segment Jettenbach on 05 July.

The renovation of the weir system of the Inn power plant Jettenbach-Töging in Bavaria also includes the delivery of 4 rotary segments by Kuenz GmbH. These weir gates, each weighing 104t, were designed and accompanied and optimised by means of numerical analyses. The basis was formed by a detailed but nevertheless computationally efficient FEM model in order to test various solutions and approaches virtually. In 2020/21, these 4 segments were lifted into place with millimetre precision and tested in March 2022; completion is planned for mid-2022.

The lecture will be held in German.
