At this year's DAAD and University Awards ceremony on 14 December 2021, our colleague Mohammed Hammad, M. Sc., was awarded one of the three University Awards. The honour is aimed at international students and doctoral candidates who have particularly distinguished themselves both professionally and with social and internal university commitment. The awards were handed over by Vice-President for International Affairs and Sustainabilty Prof. von Haaren.

Mohammed is a DAAD fellow and came to IBNM from Palestine in 2018 with an excellent educational background. He has since been able to make great progress in his academic work and also quickly and successfully acquired the level of knowledge required here. In addition to his doctoral project, Mohammed supervises students' theses, who appreciate him not only for his professional competence, but also thanks to his friendly and patient manner. Furthermore, Mohammed is involved in the Palestinian community in Hanover and actively promotes the integration of Palestinian people into German society. He also supports foreign students on their way to university and advises Palestinian students who would like to apply for a DAAD scholarship.

This multifaceted commitment is remarkable and deserves to be honoured. We warmly congratulate our colleague!
