Bone Cell Simulations using Tensegrity Structures

Cytoskeletons are frameworks which stabilize every cell. Equivalent structres known in architecture are tensegrity structures. Here a construction out of compression and tension elements only, create a cell like environment. Using the FEM software ANSYS different icosaherdron tensegrity structures were simulated and studied. Simulations of pysiological deformations of the cell model using scale bridging methods are supposed to give informations about the sensing mechanism of osteocytes.
