Bio-chemical processes involved in microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP)

Topic: Numerical study on biochemical processes involved in microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP) :: Microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP) has many advantages potential as a green treatment technique for soil improvement compare to the traditional methods.

For instance, sealing cracks in
earth dam and remediation of contaminated soil and etc. Comprehensive
researches have been done to understand the biochemical
processes of MICP and the influence factors on the processes. In this thesis, a one-dimensional simplified MICP model is presented
to simulate the biochemical processes with the assumption of a
constant porosity and advective velocity. Two coupled equations
are involved in the MICP model. One is the advection-diffusionreaction
equation to solve the urea concentration in the porous
media. Another one is an ordinary differential equation for the calcite
precipitation.
